Which Heads is an Indian lawyer required to sit? |

Ans: Not all lawyers taking the test will be required to sit all four Heads,
as it is dependent upon the jurisdiction in which they are qualified.
An Indian lawyer is required to sit Head III. For those lawyers
whose basic medium of instruction is not English, in addition to
Head III they will also be required to sit Head IV. |

What is the division of Head III - Professional Conduct &
Accounts Exam? |

Ans:
The test consists of a three hour examination, divided into two
parts:
Part 1 - Accounts
Part 2 - Professional Conduct, Financial Services and Money Laundering
Candidates are required to sit both parts of the examination. Questions on the Solicitors - Accounts Rules carry 40% of the available marks. Questions on Professional Conduct, Financial Services and Money Laundering carry 60% of the available marks. Questions on Financial Services carry at least 15% of the available marks. The pass mark for the examination is 50%, but both parts of the test must be passed. For example you cannot
achieve 40% in Part 1 and 10% in Part 2 and pass the test, you must
achieve at least 50% in Part 1 and 50% in Part 2.

What is the division of Head -IV - Principles of Common Law
Exam? |

|
Ans: The duration of the test is 30 - 40 minutes. Candidates will be
notified in advance of the subject area they will be tested on.
This oral test requires a candidate to demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the Principles of Common Law. Competency in the English language will also be assessed. Please note that there will be no tuition course for Head IV.

What is the pass mark for Head III - Professional Conduct &
Accounts Exam? |

Ans: Candidates who sit Head III must obtain at least 50% of the marks
attributable to the Professional Conduct/Financial Services/Money
Laundering part of the examination, as well as obtain at least 50%
of the marks attributable to the Accounts part of the paper. To
pass the test candidates are required to gain a pass mark in each
part of the examination. |

Law Exam? |

Ans:
This assessment is assessed on the basis of the candidate being
competent/not competent - there is no pass mark.
Ques: If I purchased the Special Packs will I be required to pay
separately for the Head IV test fee and Distance learning
material?
Ans: Special Packs-Basic Pack and Complete Pack are only for Head III. If the candidate requires sitting for Head IV along with Head III, he/she has to pay separately for the Head IV: Test Fee and Head IV: Distance Learning Programme Fee

If the candidates wish to attend Head III- Course(s),
they will have
to pay the respective amount separately together with the Basic

If a candidate is registered for Head III, is a separate
Registration Fee required for Head IV? |

If the candidate has already paid registration fee at the time of
registration for Head III test, they are not required to pay separate
registration fee to sit Head IV. Otherwise the candidate has to
pay the registration fee as well. The registration fee covers three
consecutive sittings. |

What is an open book examination? |

Ans:
The Test(s) are designed to test candidates'
ability to apply legal
principles in certain areas of English law, wherever possible by the
use of case studies: it is not a mere test of the candidate’s
memory.
Candidates may therefore take into the Test(s) any book,
document or other written material including study notes made by
the candidate. Permitted
Materials can be highlighted, underlined
and annotated. The use of
post it notes is also permitted.

in the Testing and
Administration Handbook (sent to candidates
upon registration)
The copyright of all the course material remains that of CLT. Such material may not be produced either in whole or in part, by any method whatsoever, without prior permission having been given in writing by CLT.
