CRB Check

A Criminal Records Bureau check is necessary before applying for admission to the Roll of Solicitors of the Supreme Court of England & Wales and valid for a period of three months from the date of issue. However, if an Indian Lawyer is living in India for more than 5 years, he/she is not required to do a CRB disclosure. Potential candidates who have lived in a country other than India in the last 5 years and that country appears on the CRB website, they would be required to do a CRB disclosure for that country.

These candidates need to contact the SRA three months in advance of their anticipated admission date to request a CRB application and an AD1 application for admission to the roll. If you fail to obtain a satisfactory standard disclosure, your application for admission will be refused. The fee for a criminal records check is £47.

The SRA call centre can be contacted on +44 (0) 870 606 2555. If you have any further queries regarding the CRB check, kindly contact the SRA directly.
